Mani Ratnam is a well-known Indian film director. A Conversation with Mani Ratnam and Fathers is an award-winning documentary by Claude Lelouch on Mani Ratnam’s work made in 2000. "I had very high expectations of Aaytha Ezhuthu when it came out because I felt that with Aa Dinagal Jaathadi, I had taken a step towards maturity in my films. The film came out and it became a flop. It was a big shock to me and I felt very depressed. My next film was Dil Se and there too, the audience told me that it was not good.
